We are pleased to announce that Amanda Slim has joined Brighton Boat Sales as a valid member of our Boat Sales team and she brings a wealth of experience!
Amanda is a keen sailor with over 20 years experience. Growing up in the land locked Midlands her ambition from a young age were to work with boats. Starting out on sailing dinghies, teaching sailing in Cowes at UKSA and overseas with Sunsail holidays, Amanda finally returned to Brighton and started working with Hove Lagoon Watersport.
With Sunsail, Amanda moved into yachting in the Greek Ionion and returned to the UK to complete her Yachtmaster qualification. Amanda spent the summer seasons skippering the charter boat ‘Vita Bel II’ a Nordia 45 Ketch Rig Steel Motor Sailor (http://www.vita-bel.com), which was based out of Cala D’Or in Mallorca. Amanda then moved out to the Caribbean for a short while crewing and maintaining various privately owned yachts sailing pretty much everywhere between the British Virgin Islands and Trinidad.
After returning to Brighton to settle down she started working with Hove Lagoon as a dinghy sailing instructor. Amanda moved to office based work with Neilson Active holidays working in yield and pricing, from there to Premier Marinas as a Unit Controller. “Sadly a life at sea does not pay the mortgage or feed the children!” Amanda still loves getting out on the water at every opportunity, “there’s nothing quite like an early morning wakeboard between the piers or a long paddle board along the Sussex Coast”.
